W. Chandrakanth boasts a rich and extensive career in journalism spanning four decades, augmented by additional years of freelance expertise. Beginning in 1984, Chandrakanth dedicated 23 years to The Indian Express and The Hindu, where he held various roles ranging from sub-editor to Senior Special Correspondent. His assignments took him across regions such as Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and the North East, where he covered a wide spectrum of topics including crime, politics, and secessionist movements. His commitment to thorough and impactful reporting became evident early in his career.
Later, Chandrakanth transitioned to New Delhi, assuming the role of National Affairs Editor at Sakshi Telugu Daily. Over the course of six years, he provided in-depth coverage of national and international affairs, reporting on prestigious events like the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), BRICS summits, and the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Chandrakanth also played a pivotal role in covering significant bilateral engagements such as the Indo-US 123 Deal, Indo-European relations, Indo-France ties, and Indo-Pakistan relations, in addition to offering insightful coverage of Kashmir affairs.
